In essentials, unity; in non-essentials, liberty; in all things, charity.- Augustine of Hippo

If you read these accounts (the four books of the Gospel) ... either you are going to have to come to the conclusion that a group of first century Jews that had been trained all their lives that human beings are not God, came up with an incredibly elaborate, very conscious and very deliberate system of lies - wrote it up and sent it out there, and then they went out into that world and they died for those lies  - and (while living they) lived lives of such attractive power that the whole pagan roman world was swept (into a new belief). You have to believe either all this or that a human being was the creator God who came the earth to save us. There is no conclusion in the middle which you can come to that is warranted. These are either fraudulent lies or else they are telling the truth. - Timothy Keller

Think how we feel when we see someone we love ravaged by unwise actions or relationships. Do we respond with benign tolerance as we might toward strangers? Far from it…. Anger isn't the opposite of love. Hate is, and the final form of hate is indifference. God's wrath is not a cranky explosion, but his settled opposition to the cancer of sin which is eating out the insides of the human race he loves with his whole being - Becky Pippert

If it is difficult to make a prophecy then you are not a prophet. If you have to be shown how to talk in tongues then talking in tongues is not a gift of the Holy Spirit. God is not weak, unsure or inconsistent - Jason Horsler.

I’m so flawed that Jesus had to die for me yet I’m so loved & valued that Jesus was glad to die for me. - Timothy Keller

The gospel shows us a God far more holy than a legalist can bear and yet more merciful than a humanist can conceive. - Timothy Keller

You are more valuable to God than the sun in the sky. Big and complex and amazing though it is, you will out live it and outshine it if you trust in Jesus. He never died for the sun. God called the sun into being with a word, but you he breathed his own Spirit into. - Jason Horsler

I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else. - C. S. Lewis

Christianity, if false, is of no importance, and if true, of infinite importance. The only thing it cannot be is moderately important. - C. S. Lewis

I am trying here to prevent anyone saying the really foolish thing that people often say about Him: I’m ready to accept Jesus as a great moral teacher, but I don’t accept his claim to be God. That is the one thing we must not say. A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic — on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg — or else he would be the Devil of Hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the Son of God, or else a madman or something worse. You can shut him up for a fool, you can spit at him and kill him as a demon or you can fall at his feet and call him Lord and God, but let us not come with any patronising nonsense about his being a great human teacher. He has not left that open to us. He did not intend to. ... Now it seems to me obvious that He was neither a lunatic nor a fiend: and consequently, however strange or terrifying or unlikely it may seem, I have to accept the view that He was and is God. - C.S. Lewis

Next, they’ll say, “Do you want to go to heaven?”  Have you ever had anybody say, “No, I’d rather go to hell.”  My friend, understand this, everyone wants to go to heaven.  They just don’t want God to be there when they get there ... The question is not, “Do you want to go to heaven?”  The question is, “Do you want God?”  - Paul Washer

Isn’t it amazing though, that men, rather than accept the free gift of salvation, would rather set their jaw and say, “I need nothing from deity! I need nothing from God!”  - Paul Washer

You will die. You will pay tax. You will be a slave to something or someone. You will have faith in something or someone. - Jason Horsler

No one sets out to become an apostate - it's never the result of one abrupt, drastic turn away from the Lord. Instead, apostasy is most often the product of a pattern of sinful compromises that harden and gradually steer a professing believer away from the truth. - John MacArthur

The source of most of the problems people have in their Christian lives relates to two things: either they are not worshiping six days a week with their life, or they are not worshiping one day a week with the assembly of the saints. We need both. - John MacArthur

If sinners be damned, at least let them leap to Hell over our bodies. If they will perish, let them perish with our arms about their knees. Let no one go there unwarned and unprayed for. - Charles Spurgeon

We must have no truce, no treaty with Rome. War! War to the knife with her! Peace there cannot be. She cannot have peace with us - we cannot have peace with her. She hates the true Church; and we can only say that the hatred is reciprocated. We would not lay a hand upon her priests; we would not touch a hair of their heads. Let them be free: but their doctrine we would destroy from the face of the earth as the doctrine of devils. So let it perish, O God, and let that evil thing become as the fat of lambs. Into smoke let it consume: yea, into smoke let it consume away. - Charles Spurgeon

Believers throughout the centuries along with genuine and discerning believers today understand  that Roman Catholicism is a false system. It has a false priesthood. It has a false source of revelation, tradition and the magisterium. It has illegitimate power granted to it by this magisterium, this papal curia. It engages in idolatry by the worship of saints and the veneration of angels. It conducts a horrific exaltation of Mary above Christ and even God. It conducts a twisted sacrament of the Mass by which Jesus is sacrificed again and again. It offers false forgiveness through the confessional. It calls for the uselessness of infant baptism and other sacraments. Motivated by money, it has invented Purgatory. The harm of indulgences, selling forgiveness for money. The false gospel of works. The abomination of idols and relics, prayers for the dead, the perversion of forced celibacy. And so it goes - John MacArthur

It is the bound and duty of every Christian to pray against this Antichrist and as to what Antichrist is, no sane man ought to raise a question. If it be not the popery in the church of Rome, there's nothing in the world that can be called by that name. Popery is contrary to Christ's gospel and is the Antichrist and we ought to pray against it. It should be the daily prayer of every believer that Antichrist might be hurled like a millstone into the flood and for Christ because it wounds Christ, because it robs Christ of His glory, because it puts sacramental efficacy in the place of His atonement and lifts a piece of bread into the place of the Savior and a few drops of water into the place of the Holy Spirit and puts a mere fallible man like ourselves up as the Vicar of Christ on earth. If we pray against it because it is against Him. We shall love the persons though we hate their errors, we shall love their souls though we loathe and detest their dogmas. And so the breath of our prayers will be sweetened because we turn our faces toward Christ when we pray. - Charles Spurgeon

Every saved person this side of heaven owes the gospel to every lost person this side of hell. - David Platt

Some people are brought to salvation and a fine Christian walk because of their church, and others in spite of it. Can Roman Catholics be saved? Some may, in spite of their church's false gospel. Some indeed may be able to ignore penance and purgatory and Mary and instead put their faith and obedience in Christ alone and walk according to scripture alone. But then can they really be called Catholic?
Likewise, can a bible-believing evangelical Christian be damned? I have to say that many are because they are nominal in their faith and are sitting complacently in the pews anticipating a week of not knowing Christ and not walking with him. But then can they really be called Christian?
