for myself. Thanks for the advice the other day, i sold my electric guitar so
getting some cymbals next week. Just need to offload these speakers to get a
decent kit. I got an audition for a signed/touring band next week. Shitting

Dude, just thought I'd say I make dance music and drums still
apply there so I found your drum sight interesting. Found your appeal for
musical intruments very inspring, drum lessons so far as clear as day but
I'm not very religious but the argument is one people need to have without
trying to kill each other for having different views. So good on ya.

Nice info site on drumming, as I spent more time here and got
distracted from what I was looking for.

Excellent source of quality material!  I took drum lessons beginning
at age 11 and did the usual junior high and high school band programs, marched
for a season at university in their marching band, then hung up the sticks to
start a business career.  Now I am finding out how much I have missed drumming
these many years.  Your site has given me great information and lessons from
which to apply and learn since I am just getting back into it. Thank you!
David P

I have been playing drums now for 35 years.  I quit playing out about
8 years ago and recently started playing again.  I forgot how much I missed it.
One of my sons is a drummer and many of the things you mention in your tips
section are things I have been trying to get across to him.  I remember when I
thought you had to fill every measure with something.  Play for the song!!
Great website!!
Thanks,
Jerry

i saw you drumming at leytonstone this weekend. that was a really wicked drum solo.

I came to your site because of your John Bonham commentary.
Very nice. The most well put take on John that i have ever read. By
accident I also read the religion debate. Wow. Your words about Christ and
the word of God REALLY MOVED ME. Thanks Man. You are really a great
inspiration. In a way I never expected. I'm a drummer, but I got a whole
lot more from your website than drumming. I'll have to re-read your
comments from time to time when things don't seem so clear. Thanks, and God
 bless you.

Great site Jason! I'm a fellow percussionist and work with a
company called NOTION music. We've got a program right in which we're
looking for teachers to give teachers a copy of our newest software
"PROGRESSION." It is labeled as "software for guitar," but believe me it's
already made my lessons infinitely easier.
Please check out our site and contact me if  you're interested in more

Hey Jason,
I just saw your "Drumming Triangle" and see a glaring hole in it!  You
need a "Business" aspect to it (perhaps in the "craft" section).
Drumming success for me, as an above average,  musical guy, has always been
about being dependable; not getting drunk during a gig, showing up on
time, having quality gear, not causing riffs in the band, being sound
mentally and physically, etc.  I get more work filling in for the loser
regular drummer than I do with my own projects!
See you around,
Stu (now in Austin, TX)

Nice work Jason. While the rest of us sold out on our artistic
talents and became corporate wasps, you continue to live the dream.
Beautiful, original website.  Enjoyed all the poetry, videos and photos

Just read your article about "Can I have a go on your kit?".
Some useful tips. Man I regret letting that guy have a go.  Like you
say, once they're on there how do you get 'em off?  You've been polite
but sadly they turn out to be complete jerks. Never again.

For such a young fellow you do quite an articulate job of
describing John Bonham and his drumming. To sum it up, one might say Bonham
'was himself' That is exactly what is most difficult to duplicate.
While his, and virtually everyone else's moves are duplicates, the
combination of which is all ones own in terms of where, how and when it is
placed and while it's fun and instructive to learn someone like Bonham's
work(by plyaing it) it's no good making our future work a carbon copy of
his. He himself said as much in describing his observing Ginger Baker
stating it was no good doing what Baker was doing. Bonham thus went on
to put his own personal stamp, his own drumming personality upon his
work with Led Zeppelin and we note it breathlessly ever since. Hats of to
Bonzo.

Chuck S. here in Los Angeles. I'd like to make myself available to
those on Drummerworld who may have
questions for me about "latin" music, and other drumming ideas and
concepts. How would that work?
I was looking at your mozambique lesson. A long time ago I developed
similar ideas to what you have there...the Latin Rudiments. Great minds
think alike!
Hear from you soon

This is really useful - I'm struggling with hi-hat accenting, so this was good start. By the way you should put "drum" , "lessons" or something in the tags of your videos so more people would find them. Your web site's really good!

Hi Jason,
I love your site...the lady in the kitchen with the knife is great!
I thought your paradiddle page was great...
I like your drumsetup too...cool...
